Shortly before 4 p.m. Sunday, BART police said they responded alongside first responders to a report of an unconscious person at the Daly City station's parking garage.

After arriving, the man was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was released to the San Mateo County coroner's office. Police said the death was under investigation, but did not initially suspect foul play at the time.

He was identified as 28-year-old Hayward resident Kelvin Kamau, a county coroner's deputy said Tuesday morning.

According to BART police arrest logs, a man with a similar name and age was arrested on a warrant and involuntary hold after being found unresponsive on a West Oakland BART station platform shortly before 9:50 p.m. Dec. 1, and also arrested in connection with a warrant shortly before 2 a.m. on Dec. 10 in the bus zone of the Dublin/Pleasanton BART station.

There have been a number of fatalities on BART this year, many of them overdoses, including two shortly before Thanksgiving.

Anyone with information may call BART police at 510-464-7040.
