Superblooms blazed through California earlier this spring, and now San Franciscans can revel in the floral folk art of Ukraine during a three-day pop-up at Bernal Heights’ Four Chicken Gallery from Saturday through Monday.
The celebration of traditional Ukrainian arts and crafts will highlight a range of textiles, jewelry and handmade goods. Masterly embroidered clothes in honor of International Vyshyvanka Day, which celebrates the country’s national garment (opens in new tab), and an array of decorative Petrykivka-style (opens in new tab) floral paintings by artist Maria Yanenko are highlights of the showcase.
Saturday features traditional craft workshops for kids and adults. Sunday includes a listening party and a Ukrainian-style salon. Sip tea and join a community healing circle on Monday. An auction to support Ukrainian artists, will also be held and is your chance to take home a piece of Ukrainian cultural history.
