BART Votes to Require Masks Through Oct. 1, $75 Tickets Possible

The BART Board of Directors voted Thursday to reinstate a mask mandate on the agency’s trains and stations that will run through Oct. 1.

Free masks will be available at station agent booths or from safety staff. Law enforcement is taking an “education-first” approach, but punitive measures could include a $75 ticket or being ejected from the system’s paid areas.

The board will reconsider extending the mandate again at their Sept. 22 meeting
