Firefighters responded to an apartment fire early Sunday morning in NoPa that spread to a neighboring building and displaced more than two dozen people from their homes.

Firefighters were called to a residence at 1310 Hayes St. at about 1:45 a.m., according to the San Francisco Fire Department. The flames eventually spread to a building at 1314 Hayes St.

An injured firefighter was taken to the hospital with minor injuries but is home safe now, officials said. In total, 25 people and three dogs were displaced by the fire.

The public was asked to avoid the area of Hayes and Divisadero streets early Sunday as crews worked to put out the fire.

An investigation into what caused the blaze is taking place, which officials said is normal due to the size of the incident.

Sunday's fire occurred a little more than a week after an apartment fire in the Mission displaced 22 people.
