The woman found in the water by Pier 39 has been identified as Nekita Wilson, the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed in a statement Wednesday.

Wilson, a 36-year-old Black woman with no fixed address, was discovered dead on Saturday at about 6:20 p.m. by a San Francisco Fire Department boat crew.

The medical examiner’s office has notified Wilson’s family but has provided no further information about the victim.

San Francisco Police Department did not respond to requests for comment by publication time.

This is a developing story.
