A 17-year-old is under arrest in connection with an aggravated assault on an elder, the San Francisco Police Department said.

The incident happened on Dec. 3, 2022, on Muni's 38 Line near Geary Boulevard and Laguna Street.

The assailant kicked the 79-year-old woman in the abdomen in an unprovoked attack, with enough force to knock her to the ground.

The suspect fled on foot, and medics transported the victim to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

After conducting an investigation with witnesses and surveillance, San Francisco Juvenile Probation officers identified the suspect, a 17-year-old male from San Francisco who was in custody at a juvenile facility in Contra Costa County for a different offense.

The teenager was transported to the San Francisco Juvenile Justice Center and booked on charges of aggravated assault and elder abuse.
