The San Francisco Standard is hiring a real estate reporting intern for summer 2023.
What to expect:
The real estate reporting intern will learn and work beside industry professionals in our innovative digital newsroom in San Francisco. We expect the intern to produce daily stories on residential and commercial real estate, working solo or with other reporters. Candidates with educational background or work experience in real estate, development, land use or general business are preferred. Interns must work on-site in San Francisco at least four days per week.
The internship is full-time, will begin in early June and run 10 weeks. Compensation is $20/hour.
Our internship program provides:

- Weekly training to expand your expertise in newsroom functions and the real-world impact of journalism
- Bi-weekly meetings with a staff member for mentorship

- Timely and constructive feedback from an editor on your work

- Link to or attach three writing and/or multimedia samples. Samples that are relevant to San Francisco or the Bay Area are encouraged. Clips do not need to be published. (They could have been written or produced for a class or published on a personal blog or website.)
- Have two references fill out a reference form. (The references can be professors, teachers, mentors, etc.)
- Candidates who seem like good matches will be screened by newsroom leadership.
