The 103-year-old San Francisco hardware store chain had bet big on the once up-and-coming South of Market neighborhood.

Starbucks is closing seven locations in Downtown San Francisco, spanning SoMa, the Financial District and Union Square areas, the company confirmed.

The department store, owned by Macy’s Inc., will close its flagship on Market Street at the end of March. 

As more locals take up pickleball, it’s getting harder to find a place to play the popular sport.


The match will be played at the San Jose Earthquakes’ PayPal Park.
