Newsom appoints new top watchdog to oversee BART

The inspector general is responsible for maintaining independent oversight of the embattled transit agency’s finances and practices.

Newsom plans to end the state of emergency on Feb. 28, 2023, joining a majority of other states that have dropped emergency orders. 

The legislation would have established requirements for companies to prevent their technology from being used for harm.

Newsom and his family will visit Alabama, Arkansas and Mississippi early next week in a bid to boost Democrats in those states.
