Saturday marked the third annual Spooky Kooky Surffest in Pacifica, organized by longtime surfer and Pacifica resident Asi Ghiassi, along with a bunch of her friends.

Surfers dressed up as Oompa Loompas, mermaids and Tim Burton characters took to the waters Saturday morning for a festive, costumed show and fun competition.

The event this year was even larger than last year’s, said Ghiassi, who added it was beyond their “wildest dreams of how many people showed up and were just fully in costume.”

“The event ended, and everyone was like, ‘OMG, we can’t wait for next year,’” said Ghiassi.
