Parking, driving and public transit in San Francisco will be affected in Nob Hill, Chinatown and parts of Downtown through Wednesday evening as President Joe Biden makes several stops around the Bay Area.
The president was due to attend several fundraisers on the Peninsula and at a meeting of the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology in San Francisco.
The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency will close multiple streets, alter several Muni streetcar and bus lines, and move over 53 public transit pick-up/drop-off spots through 6 p.m. Wednesday.
The Powell/Hyde and Powell/Mason cable car lines will be replaced with buses north of the Powell Street cable car turnaround, while the 1 California cable car line’s route will be truncated.
These Streets Will Be Closed Through 6 p.m. Wednesday:
- California Street between Mason and Stockton streets
- Sacramento Street between Mason and Powell streets
- Mason Street between California and Clay streets
- Powell Street between California and Clay streets
These Intersections Will Be Closed Through 6 p.m. Wednesday

- Sacramento Street at Mason and Powell streets

Inbound to Powell & Market: From Powell & Jackson via Jackson, Mason, Washington, Powell, Clay, Stockton, Ellis to temporary terminal
Outbound to Fisherman’s Wharf: From Ellis & Powell via Powell, Pine, Leavenworth, Washington, Powell to temporary terminal at Jackson.
