Thomas Sawano is the Summer 2025 photo intern at The Standard. A recent graduate of the UC Berkeley School of Journalism’s documentary program, his work spans stills and video. He’s previously interned at the San Francisco Chronicle and, prior to hopping to visual journalism, worked as a print reporter in the wacky town of Santa Cruz, CA, where he completed his undergraduate education and discovered his love for journalism. He grew up in South Pasadena, CA.
