Police recovered a dead person from the water by Pier 39 Wednesday evening but found no signs of foul play.
Officers responded to the waterfront minutes before 5 p.m., SFPD spokesperson Officer Robert Rueca told The Standard in an email.
The medical examiner will investigate the cause and manner of death, he said, and officials have yet to determine the person's identity.
SFPD asked anyone with information about what happened to contact the department at (415) 575-4444 or by sending a text that starts with “SFPD” to TIP411.
