Watch powerful moments from San Francisco’s first big reparations meeting

The city has accepted a draft plan aimed at providing substantive reparations to the Black residents.

San Francisco is earmarking $6 million to help beautify the area around the Powell Street Cable Car Turnaround and fill vacant storefronts.


Years in the making, SF’s Housing Element will set the stage for where and how new housing gets built in the city. 

The mayor’s proposal was announced in 2021, shortly before the city crafted a plan to build 82,000 units by 2031.

The city’s first entertainment zone has yet to officially open. But plans are in the works on future areas for fun.
