An equipment problem on a BART track is delaying trains through the Transbay Tube Friday morning, BART officials said.

BART officials issued an advisory at 8:19 a.m. about the Transbay service, where trains are single-tracking between West Oakland and San Francisco's Embarcadero station.

Service is delayed in both the San Francisco and East Bay directions. BART encouraged riders to seek alternate modes of transportation. Alameda-Contra Transit District and Muni are both providing buses as mutual aid for passengers.

There are also problems reported specific to BART's Red line between Richmond and Millbrae. Millbrae-bound riders coming from Richmond must board a Berryessa train and transfer to a San Francisco International Airport train at MacArthur station, then take a shuttle train from SFO to Millbrae.

In the opposite direction, passengers must take a shuttle train to SFO. Then they can board an Antioch train and transfer at 19th Street in Oakland to a Richmond train.
