A 73-year-old San Francisco resident was killed after a suspect began attacking multiple people Tuesday morning.

SF Police Investigations Deputy Chief Raj Vaswani took to Twitter to announce that one of the victims died near the scene.

The attack took place around 6:30 a.m. in the 2200 block of Bayshore Boulevard near Little Hollywood neighborhood, Chief Vaswani said.

The suspect was caught trying to flee the scene by police officers.

The other victims were treated at the scene. Investigators from the San Francisco Police Homicide Detail responded and took over the investigation.

It is an active investigation, and further details will be released when they are available, police said in a Tuesday afternoon press release.
