Prosecutors plan to file attempted murder charges against a doctor accused of driving his family off a Highway 1 cliff.

Dharmesh Patel—whose wife and children aged 7 and 4 survived the Tesla's Jan. 2 cliffside plunge—is set to be arraigned Monday afternoon on three counts of attempted murder.

The 41-year-old doctor from Pasadena could also face enhanced charges for domestic violence and causing great bodily injury.

The arraignment comes nearly a month after the crash at Devil's Slide in San Mateo County. Rescuers managed to save the family.

Patel was hospitalized until Friday, when authorities booked him in a Redwood City jail.
