San Francisco police have arrested a suspect in the fatal stabbing of a man in the city's Tenderloin neighborhood in late October.

Thirty-eight-year-old Ronnie Randle was taken into custody Thursday and booked into the San Francisco County Jail, according to a statement from the San Francisco Police Department.

Randle is facing charges including homicide, narcotics possession and weapons charges related to the stabbing.

Police said officers initially responded to reports of a stabbing at Eddy and Taylor streets on the morning of Oct. 24. They found a male victim suffering from an apparent stab wound. He was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The victim ultimately succumbed to his injuries on Oct. 28. Homicide detectives took over the investigation following the victim's death.

Last week, investigators released a crime bulletin with a photo of the suspect. On Friday, an off-duty police officer recognized Randle from the bulletin photo on Eddy Street in the Tenderloin and took him into custody without incident.

While Randle has been arrested, police said the investigation remains active and open.

The Chief Medical Examiner's Office has been contacted for the identity of the victim but did not immediately respond.
