San Francisco police say a stabbing victim died after he crashed into a Walgreens when apparently trying to reach a hospital on Saturday morning.
The 27-year-old man died in the hospital, while a 34-year-old man who was traveling with him in a vehicle before the crash was also found to be suffering from stab wounds, police said.
The San Francisco Office of the Medical Examiner identified the slain man Thursday as Julio Salazar Perez.
Police said officers responded around 12:25 a.m. Saturday to a report of a possible vehicle crash.
When officers arrived, they found a vehicle that had crashed into Walgreens on Potrero Avenue between 23rd and 24th streets, a block from Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital. Officers believed the men had been trying to get to a hospital when the crash happened.
Saturday also saw two separate shootings before dawn and late Saturday in the city’s Tenderloin neighborhood.
The Saturday night shooting came on the heels of an early morning shooting at Hyde Street and Golden Gate Avenue that killed one person.
The department’s Homicide Detail has taken over the investigation.
