7-Year-Old Missing in Moss Landing After Toddler Brother Raises Alarm

The Coast Guard and other agencies are currently searching for a missing 7-year-old boy in the area of Moss Landing near the Monterey Bay.

The missing boy's 3-year-old brother raised the alarm to a bystander and also told them his mother was missing. The U.S. Coast Guard in Monterey then received a report about the missing woman at around 7:47 p.m. Wednesday.

The Coast Guard then launched a search, deploying both lifeboat and helicopter crews.

California Fire found the missing woman and transferred her to a local hospital.

Keith Boyd, the undersheriff for Monterrey County Sheriff's Office, told The Standard the mother was later pronounced dead after being pulled from the lagoon in a non-responsive state.

The sheriff's office is continuing to search for the 7-year-old boy.

Search efforts to locate the boy by the Coast Guard have ended.
