A viral video that appears to show a BART passenger spraying other riders with a fire extinguisher after an apparent dispute is being investigated by the transit operator.

In the video posted by TikTok user @ishmeboolu, the suspect appears to threaten another passenger on the train before spraying the extinguisher in their direction, hitting nearby passengers and what appears to be a stroller.

The suspect then departed the train as the doors closed. A video caption said the incident happened on Christmas Eve. The video below contains some strong language.

A spokesman said BART Police were notified of the incident through a BARTWatch app report that was made on Christmas Eve shortly after 7 p.m.

The BART spokesperson said officials are still trying to confirm the date and time of the incident and have begun the process of recovering station and train car surveillance footage as part of their investigation.

People with additional information or details about the incident are asked to contact the BART Police Criminal Investigations Division.
