A security guard was shot and killed Wednesday afternoon in San Francisco’s Japantown.

Police officers responded to the scene at the 1500 block of Webster Street just after 5 p.m. and discovered a man suffering from a gunshot wound.

SFPD said that officers rendered aid and summoned medics to the scene, who also tried administering lifesaving measures.

The victim—who remains unnamed—ultimately succumbed to his injuries and was declared dead at the scene.

According to the police department, homicide investigators identified and arrested two teenage boys in connection to the shooting. One, a 15-year-old, was arrested for murder, and another, a 14-year-old, was arrested for accessory to murder.

Both suspects were booked into the Juvenile Justice Center, and their names are not being disclosed.

SFPD said the investigation remains active and would not confirm or deny The San Francisco Chronicle’s report that another person of interest was involved and identified.

The incident took place at the Japan Center, near the second-story overpass that connects its two halves. It occurred at the same time a powerful storm was slamming into the city.

This is a developing story.
