A male suspect wearing a Mickey Mouse necklace allegedly tried to rob a San Francisco bank Monday, police scanner audio said.

The suspect is said to have entered the Citibank at 25th Avenue and Geary Boulevard at around 11:15 a.m. and passed a note to the teller in an attempt to rob the bank, according to police scanner recordings on the Citizen crime reporting app.

The Richmond District Citibank branch confirmed to The Standard there was a robbery attempt on Monday morning but did not provide further details.

Neighboring businesses confirmed police officers were canvassing the area on Monday afternoon before 1 p.m.

"Officers arrived on the scene and met with an employee of the bank who stated that an unknown male handed her a note demanding money," a San Francisco Police Department spokesperson said. "The employee did not comply with the suspect who fled the scene in an unknown direction. No arrest has been made at this time."
