Hail, thunder, lightning: Flash flood warning in effect in San Francisco

The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning for San Francisco and northwest San Mateo Counties at 12:19 p.m.

Strong thunderstorms will continue to impact parts of San Francisco, Daly City, South San Francisco, San Bruno, Pacifica, Brisbane, Colma and Broadmoor through 3:30 pm. Alameda and Contra Costa counties are also on notice.

This comes as the public reported strong thunderstorms from San Pablo to near Daly City moving at 35 miles per hour. The NWS expects wind gusts up to 50 miles per hour and pea-sized hail.

The NWS is expecting up to 1 inch of rain in the warned area.

People outdoors are advised to seek shelter inside a building, as torrential rainfall may lead to localized flooding. The NWS advises drivers to avoid flooded roadways.
