A 4.1-magnitude earthquake jilted the San Francisco Bay Area early Thursday morning, waking up residents and causing delays on BART.

The quake, with an epicenter near Bay Point about 22 miles northeast of Berkeley, struck at 5:07 a.m., according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

BART said trains are running at reduced speeds and to expect 10 minute delays systemwide.

"BART is recovering from an earlier problem. There is a 10-minute delay on the San Francisco Line in the East Bay direction due to an earlier earthquake and equipment problem on a train," BART officials tweeted at 7:13 a.m.

The earthquake was felt from San Francisco to Sacramento, and from Santa Rosa to Santa Cruz, according to responses to the USGS.
