Pride Month’s Pink Triangle Is Coming Down—and Needs Volunteers to Make It Happen

With Pride Month set to end Thursday, organizers of the lighted pink triangle on Twin Peaks are calling on volunteers to help dismantle the installation Friday and Saturday.

The pink triangle added sparking streamers for the first time when it kicked off Pride Month on June 1.

The project was started in 1996 by Patrick Carney, who worked with volunteers to create the pink canvas triangle over Pride weekend. In 2020, the arts nonprofit Illuminate partnered with Carney to light the triangle with 2,700 pink LED lights, and in 2021 Illuminate extended the triangle's run to all of June.

This year, sparkling pink streamers were added to give the triangle a daytime look.
Work sessions are scheduled for 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Volunteers are asked to bring work gloves, a mask to use at their discretion, closed-toe shoes with non-slip tread, long pants and sunscreen.
