After spending most of his rookie season in frigid Sioux Falls, South Dakota, former USF star Jamaree Bouyea is making a splash in Florida’s South Beach.

Bouyea, who led San Francisco to the NCAA Tournament in 2022, was called up to the Miami Heat on a 10-day contract on Feb. 8, and early returns suggest he may be a part of Miami’s long-term plans.

After playing sparingly in his first two games, Bouyea played serious minutes in his third. Monday night’s 112-108 loss to the Denver Nuggets saw him play for 28 minutes, the same as starter Caleb Martin.

Bouyea racked up 10 points on 4-for-8 shooting, knocking down a pair of threes, including one over reigning two-time MVP Nikola Jokić.
