Booksmith, one of San Francisco’s most beloved independent bookstores, is throwing its first-ever keg party on May 27—and it wants you to come.

The party at the nearly half-century-old bookshop promises lots of books and lots of beer, plus extras like live music, a zine table and tarot readings. The $12 entry pays for a wristband and a cup to fill with local brew (for as long as it lasts) from SF’s very own Fort Point Beer Company.

The inaugural block party will celebrate a lot: “life, books, the advent of summer, the shop, and you,” according to the Haight Street bookstore.

It’s the perfect news to toast with a frothy pint in the wake of Independent Bookstore Day celebrated at the end of April.

Fort Point and Quiet Lightning are sponsoring the event.
