The newest Bay Area In-N-Out Burger has an official opening date and will be dishing out animal-style Double-Doubles and more starting Thursday, according to a press release from the company.
The most hotly anticipated branch of the classic California burger chain will open its doors at 2532 Santa Rosa Ave. in Santa Rosa.
The restaurant received a temporary occupancy issuance on June 29, according to city permits seen by The Standard, meaning it would be able to train staff at the new location.
“The temporary occupancy note says temporary occupancy is approved for, ‘stocking and training only,’” wrote Jimmy Bliss, a Santa Rosa plan check engineer.
The new In-N-Out Burger was expected to open sometime in 2023 as plans have been in the works since at least 2018, according to city documents. The restaurant was approved by Santa Rosa’s planning commission in 2020.
The new In-N-Out is the second to open in Santa Rosa, just four miles south of the previous location along Highway 101. The location includes a drive-thru, indoor seating for 74 diners and a covered patio with outdoor seating for 64 guests. In-N-Out veteran Jacob Wilhite, who has been with the chain for 11 years, will manage the new restaurant, which will employ approximately 80 workers, according to the press release.
The first In-N-Out in Santa Rosa opened in 2010 at 2131 County Center Drive. Additional Sonoma County locations of the beloved burger chain include addresses in Rohnert Park and Petaluma. In-N-Out’s first and only San Francisco outpost opened in 2001, and a Tennessee branch of the chain is expected to open in Nashville in 2026.
Editor’s note: In an earlier version of this story, The Standard confirmed with an In-N-Out representative before the official announcement that the new location would open in July 2023.
