A man died and another person was hospitalized after two shootings rocked the Bayview-Hunters Point neighborhood, police said.

The first incident occurred Friday, when officers responded to reports of gunfire and arrived at Quesada Avenue east of Griffith Street shortly after 11 p.m. to find a man suffering from a gunshot wound.

He was taken to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The medical examiner did not immediately release his identity Sunday.

On Saturday, police responded to another incident on Latona Street around 8:30 p.m. and found a victim with gunshot wounds who was taken to a hospital to be treated for life-threatening injuries. No further information on the victim's condition was available.

Police said the officers are investigating the Friday shooting as a homicide but have not made any arrests. It was the day's second fatal shooting, following one early Friday in the city's Tenderloin.

San Francisco police said the department recorded 32 confirmed homicides so far in 2023 through July 30, up from 27 last year at the same time.

This is a developing story.
