The annual Outside Lands Music and Arts Festival will take over much of Golden Gate Park this weekend, with some 75,000 festivalgoers expected to attend each day. City agencies are preparing for the extra congestion, closing roads, setting up taxi and loading zones and blackout zones.
Here’s what you need to know.
Street Closures
John F. Kennedy Drive from Transverse Drive to 36th Avenue will be closed to vehicles through Wednesday, according to the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency.
Park Access Closures
Vehicle access to the park will be limited beginning Thursday through 11 p.m. Sunday, according to the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department. These park entrances will be closed to the public:
North Side
- Transverse Drive at Crossover Drive
- John F. Kennedy Drive at Transverse Drive
- 30th Avenue
- 36th Avenue
- 43rd Avenue (Chain of Lakes Drive)
- 47th Avenue
- The Great Highway at John F. Kennedy Drive
South Side
- Martin Luther King Jr. Drive at Crossover Drive
- 25th Avenue
- Sunset Boulevard at Irving Street
- 41st Avenue (Chain of Lakes Drive)
- Martin Luther King Jr. Drive at Lincoln Avenue
Passenger Loading Zones
Taxi Stands
Taxi stands will be at the following locations from Friday at 9 a.m. to Monday at 2 a.m.
- Southside of Fulton Street between 28th and 29th avenues
- Southside of Fulton Street between 24th and 25th avenues
- Northside of Fulton Street between 33rd and 34th avenues
- Northside of Irving Street between 26th and 27th avenues
Ride-Hail and Bus Loading Zones
Vehicle pickup and drop-off areas, including ride-hail vehicles and private buses will be located in the following areas:
- North side of Irving Street, between 25th and 27th avenues
- North side of Balboa Street, between 30th and 31st avenues
- West side of 30th Avenue, between Balboa Street and Anza Street
Blackout Zones
Vehicle pickups and drop-offs will be prohibited on these streets on Friday and Saturday from 9 to 11:30 p.m. and on Sunday from 8:30 to 11 p.m. Citations will be issued for loading blackout zones, according to the transportation agency:
- Lincoln Way, between 25th and 41st avenues
- 26th, 27th, 28th, 29th, 30th, 31st, 32nd, 33rd, 34th, 35th, 36th and 37th avenues, between Fulton and Cabrillo streets
- All streets in Golden Gate Park including Crossover Drive
