The California Highway Patrol initiated a pursuit Friday afternoon with a driver who led officers from the East Bay to San Francisco and back again before holing himself up in a Richmond apartment, according to an NBC Bay Area news report.

The pursuit started shortly after 3 p.m., multiple TV stations reported, and led to a high-speed chase in which a white sedan crossed the Bay twice, sideswiped multiple vehicles along the way and ended in an armed standoff at a Richmond apartment complex.

NBC reported that the car was chased back and forth across the Bay Bridge to the Crescent Park Apartments in Richmond, where the CHP and local police surrounded the property with guns drawn.

One person was arrested shortly after 5 p.m., per NBC, but police continued to surround the apartment complex with guns drawn.

The Richmond Police Department, Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office and the CHP did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
