Parts of the Bay Area are being warned of a heightened fire risk as dry, windy conditions sweep across the mountains north of San Francisco.

The red flag warning will last from 11 p.m. Tuesday to 8 p.m. Wednesday and includes part of Napa County, spanning from Shasta Dam to Fairfield. Sacramento is also within the affected area.

Officials warn residents not to burn anything outdoors, as dry, windy weather helps wildfires ignite and spread rapidly.

The National Weather Service said this is the first red flag warning issued in the Bay Area since October 2021.
