Porter Airlines will begin offering daily nonstop flights between San Francisco International Airport (SFO) and Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) starting Jan. 25, 2024, officials announced Tuesday.

The flights will operate using Porter's Embraer E195-E2 jet, configured in an all-economy layout with 132 seats in a roomy two-by-two configuration—with no middle seats on any flight, according to the airline.

"Our arrival in California will be welcomed by those looking for a new way to travel between the West Coast and Canada," Porter Airlines Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer Kevin Jackson said.

The fuel-efficient E195-E2 is touted as one of the quietest and most environmentally friendly single-aisle jets, Porter said.

Passengers can enjoy free snacks, beer and wine served in glassware, as well as free, fast in-flight Wi-Fi, which will allow them to stream movies and shows on their own devices, the airline said. Extra legroom seats, premium cocktails and fresh meals are also available for an additional fee.

Along with fresh and healthy food items, the airline's menu service focuses on reducing single-use plastics and providing eco-friendly food packaging and utensils.

"We are thrilled to welcome Porter Airlines to SFO," said Ivar Satero, the airport's director. "This service offers San Francisco Bay Area travelers an exciting new way to Canada."

Daily flights will depart San Francisco at 2:50 p.m. and arrive in Toronto at 10:36 p.m.

Flights will leave Toronto at 10:30 a.m. and arrive in San Francisco at 1:22 p.m. All times are local.

The new route complements Porter's existing U.S. destinations in Florida and provides Northern Californians easy access to Toronto—Canada's top tourist and business hub—and connections throughout Porter's network in Canada.

SFO has had a busy summer in the wake of its crowning as the best airport in North America by the Airports Council International and the U.S. airport with the best food by Food and Wine magazine.
