Traffic on the Bay Bridge slowed to a crawl Thursday evening as California Highway Patrol officers tried to talk someone from down off the railing, authorities said.

Only one lane was closed by 5 p.m., a CHP spokesperson confirmed with The Standard. Officials offered no timetable for when all of the lanes will reopen.

The incident happened around 4 p.m. on westbound Interstate 80, just east of Treasure Island Road, according to a 511 Bay Area alert.
