San Francisco police arrested a suspect over the weekend in connection with a fatal assault that left a 25-year-old man dead three months earlier.

Cornelius Carlisle, 32, was booked Sunday on suspicion of homicide related to the mid-August attack, according to San Francisco jail records.

The killing took place on Aug. 16, police said. According to the San Francisco Police Department, officers responded at 3:54 a.m. that day to a report of an aggravated assault near Rausch and Howard streets in the South of Market neighborhood, where they found a 25-year-old man unresponsive.

Paramedics transported the victim to a local hospital, where he later died of his injuries.

Homicide detectives identified Carlisle as the suspect and put out a crime bulletin after a warrant was issued for his arrest.

On Sunday morning, officers patrolling the Tenderloin recognized Carlisle based on that bulletin and took him into custody without incident, police said.

It is unclear when Carlisle will appear in court for his arraignment.
