Sunday Streets Announces 15th Anniversary Season

With the kind of rain that’s coming down right now, going outside might be the last thing on your mind. But it should be, since Sunday Streets just announced it is poised to celebrate its 15th anniversary on select Sundays from May to October.
The anniversary season includes three block parties, two signature mile-plus routes and the Third Annual Phoenix Day, named in honor of the mythical bird on our city’s seal and flag, which celebrates all things San Francisco.
The much-loved Sunday Streets program transforms roadways into car-free community spaces dotted with local vendors, free health resources and cultural programs. The widespread popularity of a car-free JFK Drive and the pandemic-spurred Slow Streets demonstrates how appealing roads without vehicles are to many San Franciscans.
Five neighborhoods—the Bayview, Tenderloin, Mission, Western Addition and Excelsior—plan to host new event formats, culminating in Phoenix Day on Oct. 15, 2023.
