A body was discovered among storm debris along the Corte Madera Creek in Marin County on Sunday.

On Monday afternoon, the Marin County County Coroner's Office reported the deceased had been identified as a 59-year-old man from the San Rafael area with no fixed address. The name of the man was being withheld until the next of kin were notified. Toxicology reports are pending.

The body was found at the base of the Bon Air Bridge, which connects Greenbrae to Larkspur and lies about 1.5 miles from where the Corte Madera Creek, empties into the bay near Highway 101 and the Larkspur Ferry Terminal.

The deceased man was found by a group of passing rowers who called first responders. The man showed no signs of life and appears to have been exposed to the elements and submerged in the water for a prolonged period. No signs of foul play were apparent.

The Corte Madera Creek, which descends from Mount Tamalpais to the San Francisco Bay, was swollen from the weekend’s King Tides and its banks were strewn with debris from the severe storms that hit the area earlier this month.
