Two men threatened violence toward shoppers while they stole merchandise worth $35,000 at an Apple Store in Palo Alto on Black Friday, Nov. 25.

Palo Alto police took the robbery call at 4:17 p.m. after two suspects entered the the downtown Palo Alto store and shoplifted several items, including multiple iPhones and laptops.

Police said that one suspect was overheard by an employee threatening violence toward anyone who attempted to stop them.

The threat of violence escalated the crime from burglary shoplifting to a robbery, police said.

There were no weapons displayed or seen, and no one was physically injured.

The suspects fled in a red Mazda 3 hatchback, and were last seen by a security guard traveling northbound on Highway 101.

Palo Alto police Capt. James Reifschneider said: "No arrests have been made, and we have no suspect information other than both suspects were Black males in their late teens or early 20s. One was wearing a blue hoodie with black pants; the other was wearing a gray hoodie with blue jeans."
