A vehicle collision in the Mission killed one person early Sunday morning, and authorities said the suspect arrested in the incident was involved in an earlier hit-and-run.

Police responded to a call involving a vehicle collision with a pedestrian at 2:11 a.m. at 16th and Capp streets. The driver allegedly fled the scene, leaving the female victim with minor injuries.

Soon afterward, officers responded to another collision at 16th Street and Potrero Avenue, which involved the vehicle from the earlier incident, according to police

This time, the driver struck a car driven by an adult male, who suffered several major injuries. The man was transported to Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Officers arrested a man who appeared to be intoxicated at the scene of the second collision, police said. The suspect was also taken to Zuckerberg Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. He is currently in custody.

While an arrest has been made, the investigation remains open. Anyone with information can contact SFPD at (415) 575-4444 or text a tip to TIP411.
