Louis Vuitton Looter Gets Prison Time for Union Square Thefts

A burglar who looted Union Square's Louis Vuitton store in 2021 has been sentenced to three years in state prison, the San Francisco District Attorney's Office said.

Tomiko Miller was sentenced on Feb. 6 for his role in the Louis Vuitton looting and other high-end retailers.

Miller was one of nine people charged in connection with the spate of Union Square commercial burglaries on the night of Nov. 19, 2021.

In addition to prison time, Miller will also serve two years of formal probation and be ordered to stay away from the stores he broke into. Miller will also be subject to search conditions, counseling, treatment and paying restitution, the DA's Office said.

Miller, who was already a convicted felon prior to his sentencing, was initially charged with several offenses, including carrying a loaded firearm, possession of a firearm by a felon, grand theft, three counts of second-degree burglary, three counts of receiving stolen property, and resisting, obstructing or delaying a peace officer. 

A judge released Miller from custody with a GPS ankle monitor after prosecutors had requested to have him jailed while his case was pending, according to CBS.

After his release, Miller cut off his GPS ankle monitor before being charged with committing auto burglary and arrested, according to a press release from the District Attorney's Office in March last year.

Another defendant, Ivan Speed, was sentenced on the same day as Miller. Speed's charges were reduced to misdemeanors, he was sentenced to one year of court probation including a stay-away order from the Louis Vuitton store and he must pay restitution, the DA's Office said.
