A man who died after a shooting in North Beach on Sunday has been named by police as 23-year-old Isaiah Thomas of Suisun City.

Despite efforts from officers and medics, Thomas was declared dead at the scene.

Police said the shooting followed an attempted gunpoint robbery at the busy intersection of Columbus and Grant avenues.

Officers located two additional shooting victims nearby, both 24-year-old men from Sacramento County. The two victims were transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Two additional shooting victims, a 22-year-old man, later identified as Malachi Lefiti of Oakland, and a 20-year-old woman from Contra Costa County were transported separately to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries prior to police arrival.

Police say an early-stage investigation indicates that Thomas, Lefiti and additional suspects were attempting to rob the victims at gunpoint. During the incident, an altercation ensued, which resulted in Thomas, Lefiti and three victims being shot.

Lefiti was taken into custody by San Francisco Police officers without incident on Monday. Lefiti was later transported to San Francisco County Jail, where he was booked on alleged charges of homicide, three counts of attempted homicide, attempted robbery, conspiracy, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and a gang enhancement.

Police say investigators believe the shooting was an isolated incident and not random.

While an arrest has been made, this remains an active investigation, police said.
