A Santa Cruz security guard was arrested after alleged inappropriate sexual contact with a 14-year-old girl, San Jose Police Department announced Thursday.

The 20-year-old security guard allegedly posed as a 16-year-old boy over social media, where he contacted the victim to arrange a meetup and the alleged inappropriate sexual contact with the victim ensued, police said.

Detectives of San Jose Police Department's Silicon Valley Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and the Child Exploit Detail were alerted to the alleged incident after a Feb. 26 report. The report detailed an inappropriate sexual relationship between a juvenile and an adult male suspect.

Detectives learned that the suspect had applied to several law enforcement agencies, and was currently working as a security guard. Based on the information, detectives obtained a warrant and arrested the man at his Santa Cruz workplace without incident on March 1.

The suspect was later booked into Santa Clara County Jail, police said.
