Sheriff: Man Sexually Assaulted Woman at Bay Area Beach

Authorities are searching for a man with a "beer belly" who sexually assaulted a woman near a beach, the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office said.

The woman was attacked on the stairwell leading to the beach at Gray Whale Cove State Beach at approximately 4 p.m. Feb. 11. Police say the suspect is wanted on three charges, including sexual penetration with force, sexual battery by restraint and false imprisonment.

The suspect was last seen wearing a navy blue "spandex style" tight shirt and baggy cotton jogger pants. He was not wearing shoes or socks, but wore a black backpack at the time of the assault.

The sheriff's office says the unidentified suspect is a "white male adult in his 30s," who was slightly overweight with a "beer belly." He was said to have dark brown hair and a medium length brown beard.
