Three Board of Education members are up for recall: Alison Collins, Gabriela López and Faauuga Moliga. Each member will be voted on separately and recalling them only requires a majority vote. This is the first local recall in nearly 40 years.

Four candidates are vying for a coveted and rarely available seat in the state Assembly to represent San Francisco's District 17. David Chiu resigned from the post late last year to become city attorney. The candidates running are District 6 Supervisor Matt Haney, former Supervisor David Campos, tech entrepreneur Bilal Mahmood, and City College trustee Thea Selby. If no candidate wins over 50% of the vote, then the top two will compete in a runoff on April 19.

A final race is for the Assessor-Recorder post, but Joaquín Torres currently occupies that position and is running unopposed.

This election takes place if no candidate wins a majority in the primary on February 15. Assembly District 17 is one of two assembly districts in San Francisco, so only the eastern half of the city will see this race on their ballot. Since this is a special election, the winner will only occupy the seat until January 2023.

June 7, 2022

This is the primary election that happens every two years. In 2022, it includes a number of state and federal offices alongside a handful of local races.

On the local level, District Attorney Chesa Boudin will be on the ballot for his potential recall. San Franciscans will also have the opportunity to vote again for their state assemblymember. If there was a clear winner of the special election in February and June of 2022, the now-incumbent will need to run for re-election. This means that losers of the special election for AD-17 could run again in June and November.

November 8, 2022

This election wraps up the 2022 election year for San Franciscans. It includes most of the races in the primary, with some notable differences at the local level.

BART Director will be on the ballot along with three seats for the Board of Education and Community College Board. Supervisors in all even-numbered districts (2, 4, 6, 8 and 10) will be on the ballot. Current supervisors in those districts are, respectively, Catherine Stefani, Gordon Mar, Matt Haney, Rafael Mandelman and Shamann Walton. Public Defender will also be on the ballot.

At the state level, San Franciscans will vote one final time for their state assemblymember in District 17 (eastern half of the city) and District 19 (western half of the city).
