Jon Jacobo, a well-known San Francisco political figure with leadership roles at several local organizations, announced his resignation.

The charges against Jacobo are the culmination of disturbing allegations from four women ranging from rape, domestic violence and stalking. 

The former rising star in San Francisco politics was released Tuesday after his arrest last week on sexual abuse charges.

Jacobo’s attorney claimed he was being “persecuted for political reasons.”
