A man was fatally stabbed at the 24th St. Mission BART Plaza Sunday afternoon, according to BART Police.

Police say surveillance cameras show two adult males arguing near the station’s elevator at around 1:40 p.m. before one individual stabs the other.

The footage shows the victim walking down the stairs into the station before collapsing on the platform, where he died from his injuries. The suspect fled the scene and remains at large.

The 24th St. Mission station was temporarily closed to the public and trains were not stopping at the location.

The plaza atop the 24th Mission St. BART Station has been a recent focus of city officials who sought to discourage illegal street vending at the location.

Fencing erected by BART and city officials meant to dissuade vending was torn down last Saturday and has not been replaced.
