A Downtown San Francisco Chase Bank will close its doors Dec. 13.

The closure notice comes hot on the heels of a nearby a Whole Foods cutting its opening hours due to “high theft” and hostile people, a staff member recently told The Standard.

The ATMs at the Chase branch are sometimes covered with metal shutters but staff members denied the bank is closing due to vandalism or crime.

Chase Bank spokesperson Christina Dello Buono said in an email that the closure was part of consolidating branches.

There is another Chase Bank branch close to the Market Street location at Van Ness Avenue and McAllister Street, roughly half a mile away.
