When Windsor head coach Steve Kramer emptied his bench with five minutes left in a comfortable win over the Washington Eagles at the Brett Callan Memorial Tournament, the mayor’s son headed to the scorer’s table to check in.

No, not the son of former Windsor mayor Dominic Foppoli, who’s currently under investigation for multiple instances of abuse and assault (opens in new tab). Not the offspring of current mayor Sam Salmon or mayor-elect Rosa Reynoza (opens in new tab), either.

The backup guard wearing the number 3 jersey for the Jaguars is the son of Guy Fieri, the Mayor of Flavortown.

Ryder Fieri, a junior on Windsor’s varsity basketball team, played the final few minutes of the Jaguars’ comfortable 64-39 win over Washington. He didn’t score, but the game was well in hand as Windsor improved to 5-4 on the young season.

His father, a renowned Food Network personality and chef, had attended the Jaguars’ 61-50 loss to Justin-Siena on Saturday in the championship game of the Redwood Empire Invitational Basketball Tournament (REIBT), but wasn’t in the crowd for Thursday’s game in Petaluma. Two days earlier, Guy was in Boca Raton, Fla. (opens in new tab), signing bottles of Santo tequila, which he created with Sammy Hagar.

While Ryder’s father has commitments around the nation, he is regularly seen in Sonoma County. Guy is known to frequent Oliver’s Market in Windsor for groceries, and his iconic spiky hair is constantly found at basketball games, whether it’s to support his son’s team, cheer on the Golden State Warriors or just take in some other high-profile game. Ryder and Guy sat courtside at the 2021 NBA Finals (opens in new tab) in Phoenix, watching the Suns take on the Milwaukee Bucks. When the Warriors faced the Boston Celtics in the 2022 Finals, Ryder attended Game 3 (opens in new tab) with both his father and older brother Hunter.

While Hunter, now 26, has made far more TV appearances than his younger brother and is now hosting an online show called (opens in new tab)Station Nation (opens in new tab), which showcases top gas station restaurants, Ryder may already have the upper hand on as a hooper. There are no stats or records on MaxPreps.com for Hunter, who attended Sonoma Academy.

The Jaguars will play tournament host Casa Grande in the Brett Callan Memorial semifinals on Friday night. They’ll host their own Windsor Holiday Shootout next week.
