Two male suspects stole a safe from a 98-year-old woman in the Richmond District early Monday, San Francisco police said.

According to police, two men between 20 and 30 years of age unlawfully entered a garage on the 200 block of El Camino Del Mar at approximately 3 a.m. on Jan. 2 and used a dolly to wheel out a safe containing documents and U.S. currency.

No one was injured during the incident.

When asked by The Standard, police did not elaborate further on the safe’s contents, or whether the suspects forced their way into the garage. In light of the victim's age, the burglary may reignite fears of crimes perpetrated against older city residents.

The safe was removed while the victim slept, police said.

Police responded at 11:43 a.m. Monday and met with the victim’s daughter, who was visiting her mother and was the first to notice that the safe was missing, police said.

Police did not identify the suspects, and no arrests have been made at this time.

SFPD said that the incident is an ongoing investigation, and did not reveal further details.
